The Birth, Death and Resurrection of God's Plans For Us

Irrespective of age or gender, God has a plan for each of us. Finding that plan requires faith and a listening ear. Sometimes that plan comes as a dream or a vision. It is birthed in us but we get in the way of it and it dies. In the dying, God is then able to rebirth it in glorious resurrection power. The plan is fulfilled.

Verse of the Week

John 14:12-14 (NIV) 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

The Cost of Forgiveness

This sermon examines possible blockages to receiving in full, God's forgiveness. The cost to us of unforgiveness.  The cost of our forgiveness to God.

1 John 1:5-10 (NIV)

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a] sin.
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Focus

It's easy to get distracted and make excuses. When Jesus calls us to do something, we need to focus on that and not lose sight of the big picture.

Luke 9:57-62
57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
